Murphy: I wanna take Dave Brass’ place.
 McManus: What?
Murphy: I want you and I to play the last game together.
 McManus: Fuck you!
Murphy: Because I turned you down before?
 McManus: That’s right!
Murphy: Okay, well fuck me for that. But listen Tim, you made a believer out of me, man! I was watchin’, you played balls out with a lotta fuckin’ heart in both those games. But Brass, he was a phenominal player, I don’t think anybody really noticed how good you were playing. And isn’t that the point of all this? I mean, to show the dinks in here that if a guy puts his mind to somethin’…
 McManus: We can’t win.
Murphy: I know. But if we can hold our own. Two average white guys with bad bodies, hangin’ with Vahue! I mean, that would mean somethin’ man!

Busmalis: What did the doctor say? Did the surgery go well? Was the tumor benign?
Rebadow: Yes, I’ll survive, only… I have this terrible scar on my head. They tell me in time it’ll go away, but even so, I’m embarrassed to be seen like this.
 Busmalis: Bob, you’re so vain.
 Rebadow: Don’t get insulting.
Busmalis: No, vain is good. When you got out of the hole, you were kind of dragging. But vain means you still feel alive.
 Rebadow: Stop talking nonsense.
 Busmalis: Scar’s hardly noticeable.
Rebadow: Bullshit… This is your lucky hat.
Busmalis: I’m lucky. I’m glad you’re still breathing.

Miguel: So what do you do?
Mukada: Pray.
Miguel: Yeah, well, you know. Toss in a couple extra for me.

Mukada: I always do Miguel.

Augustus Hill: The final act of mercy, to bury the dead, to pray for the dead and the living. We are merciful, not just for humanitarian reasons, we are merciful because we ourselves want to be saved.

Andrew: I gotta tell you something Dad, my whole life you’ve crammed into my head how superior we white folks are. I don’t see the truth in that. I look around this room and I see white faces, and black faces, and every colour in between and the only thing that I know for sure is that we’re all shit, and shit don’t come in degrees. White or black, shit is shit. So fuck everything you believe, fuck everything you stand for, and fuck you.

Groves: It hurts!
Dentist: Oh, don’t be a baby.
Groves: Who are you calling a baby?
Dentist: Nobody. Forget it, forget I said anything. Uh huh, there is a tooth that’s rotted out. So, we’re going to have to pull it. That means I have to take a needle and inject some Novocaine in your mouth.
 Groves: I hate needles.
Dentist: Everybody does. And I have to drill.
 Groves: I hate drills…
Dentist: Right now so do I. Right now I wish there were holistic dentistry.
Groves: I’m in pain…
Dentist: Well you’re going to be in a lot more before we’re finished. But after that you won’t have any pain. See? If I cause you pain it’s not my fault, so don’t bite my head off! I mean, uh…
Groves: I know what you mean.

McManus: You’re sorry? I bring you into Oz because we’ve known eachother since sixth grade.  Because you’re the one person in my entire life I can trust- with my life, if necessary. But then I find out I can’t trust you, that you’re just another thick-headed redneck slug who uses his badge as a weapon.
Murphy: You’re right, you’re absolutely right.
McManus: Don’t you fucking agree with me, I’m telling you the fuck off!
Murphy: Listen, I’ve betrayed your trust. If you don’t see me getting it back maybe I should just transfer out of Em City… maybe I should just quit altogether.
McManus: No, Jesus- Jesus, stop being so fucking remorseful!
Murphy: What, you don’t want me to be remorseful?
McManus: No! Yes! We’re going to dinner tonight, you’re paying.

so i apparently have too much time on my hands and i decided to make my first fanmix. based on beecher/keller’s messed up (but still totally awesome) relationship, i present to you: coming up from below, a beecher and keller fanmix. just a fair warning, besides the beginning and ending it’s filled with mostly angst-ridden songs (but what else could you really expect?), and it also contains quite a few spoilers if you haven’t watched Oz. i tried to make it at least somewhat chronological but i made this when i was about halfway through season six and now that i’ve watched the whole series i’m not sure if i agree with all of my choices, but c’est la vie. this was actually really fun to make and there’s some really good artists on here so even if you haven’t watched the show, and if you are in the mood for some songs about tough times and hard relationships, this could work. [DOWNLOAD THIS BAD BOY HERE.]

01. Up From Below - Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes

(based on both beecher and keller’s constant struggle to redeem themseleves)

drugs, drugs, drug me down killin’ light, killin’ sound // but now i’ve already suffered i want you to know, god // i’m ridin’ on hell’s hot flames comin’ up from below

02. King of Diamonds - Motopony
(beecher finds that keller is actually what he’s been needing in oz)

you’ve got everything together // you’ve got everything i want // you’ve got sharp & sparkling pleasure // bleedin’ from the middle of your palm

03. Mr. November - The National
(after keller essentially fucks beecher over he attempts to prove that he’s not going to screw things up again)

i’m the new blue blood, i’m the great white hope // i’m the new blue blood // i won’t fuck us over, i’m mr. november

04. Love out of Lust - Lykke Li
(beecher realizes that he wants to be with keller, and that he feels better when he is)

rather die in your arms, than die lonesome // rather die hard, than die hollow // the higher that i climb // the deeper i fall down

05. Low Rising - The Swell Season
(after the death of beecher’s son he prays that things get better)

low rising // ‘cause we’ve gotta come up // we’ve gotta come up // low rising // ‘cause i fear we’ve had enough // low rising // ‘cause there’s no further for us to fall

06. Cut Cut Paste - Tokyo Police Club
(when keller’s taken taken to another prison, beecher has time to relfect on the relationship)

and that’s how we first kiss // it’s something i still miss // you think i’ve lost my mind // “is this blood yours or mine?” // ‘cause when we kiss our scars align

07. Lucky You - The National
(they’re forever attached to eachother and there’s nothing either of them can do about that)

you own me // there’s nothing you can do // you own me // lucky you

08. Us Ones in Between - Sunset Rubdown
(keller basically thinks about what kind of person he has become)

and i’ve heard of pious men // and i’ve heard of dirty fiends // but you don’t often hear // of us ones in between

09. Under The Knife - The Rural Alberta Advantage
(while keller is on death row beecher does his best to save him)

and the devil’s gonna tear us apart // and the fire’s gonna tear us apart // and our love is gonna hold you tight // before it tears us apart tonight

10. Old College Try - The Mountain Goats
(beecher and keeler have always have a shaky relationship, chris believes that he can’t survive oz without beecher in his life…)

our love has never had a leg to stand on // from the aspirins to the cross-tops to the elevils // but i will walk down to the end with you // if you will come all the way down with me

11. Better Things - Passion Pit
(after keller’s death beecher can only hope that things will get better for both of them)

you’re gonna drive me crazy // you’re gonna drive me mad // you got an angel on your shoulder // makin’ hairpins outta glass // baby don’t be unhappy // baby don’t be sad // better things are coming // i swear there’s truth in that
